"School is Cool" tries to develop the cooperation between different sectors of education and to combine informal, non-formal and formal education. Its particular aims are focused on the improvement of the quality and effectiveness of education by finding new learning opportunities and by creating new learning tools for a durable integrated learning procedure.
Its target is to motivate citizens -especially youths- to reveal their capacities and to participate in producing multidisciplinary learning tools that will be offered to other people -especially to youngsters- to encourage them in keeping on learning and altogether to enhance both their active citizenship and socio-economic integration.
In order to achieve the above, 26 different type organizations from the education field (private and public schools, local authorities, associations, youth centers and organizations, training centers, NGOs, universities, medium-size service companies etc.) and from various sectors (education, training, culture, civic institutions etc.) coming from 16 European countries will work together in and out of school in both local and European level, motivating a wide range of social groups, youths and teenagers, parents and grandparents, teachers, tutors, employees and simple citizens. Local Initiative Groups (LIG) will be organized, supported by a tutor. In these groups, youths will play the major role. Each LIG will create an Educational Toolbox / Unit (ETU) on a specific subject and will contain a variety of educative materials, addressed to teenagers of 13-15 years old mainly, following a peer learning modus operandi form the elder to the younger. The ETUs will be presented to each other, to professors and to the public in a European Meeting at Los Palacios, Spain. Then, they wi ll be offered to the municipality of Los Palacios in order to be used by school institutions. There will also be a new cooperation network between the partners. |
